Chelsea Hotel: Sid and Nancy

You would be hard pressed to find a more culturally iconic hotel than NYC’s Chelsea Hotel. The laundry list of musicians, entertainers, and artists that have come and gone from this housing mecca are astounding. I only made it as far as the lobby over the years. With renovations hopefully sparing the historic decor, the Chelsea Hotel (which is also the namesake to a Leonard Cohen classic about he and Janis Joplin), will live on infamy.

As someone who in his youth spray painted “Sex Pistols” on a heather grey crew neck sweatshirt, the story of Sid and Nancy in Room #100 will always be up there as far as rock n’ roll tragedy is concerned. Check out our episode of Ghost Town on the Chelsea Hotel: Sid and Nancy for more on one of New York’s most notorious cautionary tales.
