The Haunted Knickerbocker Hotel

 

I must have walked by the Knickerbocker Hotel a thousand times over the years. I admired the historic relevance, but really had no idea how somewhat tragic, and of course how haunted it was.

The Knickerbocker Hotel is located at 1714 Ivar Avenue in Hollywood. The iconic hotel opened in June 1929, catering to Hollywood’s new and exciting film industry. Rudolph Valentino is said to have spent much time there during his last year of life, lounging in the lobby.

Marilyn Monroe and Joe DiMaggio often met in the hotel bar. Elvis Presley stayed in Room 1016. Laurel and Hardy stayed in room 205. Graham Nash lived there in 1968. Harry Houdini’s widow held many public seances on the roof of the hotel to contact here departed husband.
