The Unsolved Villisca Axe Murders

The Villisca Axe Murders had put Iowa on the map as being one of the coldest cases in the US. This unsolved murder case included 2 trials, a conviction, and a laundry list of suspects.

On June 10th, 1912, the Moore family: six children and two adults were found bludgeoned to death by an axe that was left at the scene. Lack of sophisticated forensics, and the fact that upwards of 100 curious townsfolk made their way through the house, made it difficult to solve the case. There were plenty of suspects, some with motive, some with a confession, but none to get an actual conviction.

The Villisca Axe Murder House is a popular tourist attraction, and delivers on the creepy. Check out the episode of Ghost Town about the unsolved Villisca Axe Murders now for more.
